THE election

Since my last blog post about Donald Trump I have become more involved in the American election, not only because I've felt the need to read more about it but it has also become an extremely heated topic. And so here we are the day before the election. You might not see it as a big deal since there is an election every 4 years but this election is a huge deal. It might even be huger than the wall that might be built.
So why is this election so important? For me this election will show whether the world has come as far as we claim that it has or if we are simply taking several steps back. Regardless your political opinions there are certain things that these candidates represent. Hillary Clinton would be the first female president in America which would show that equal rights has come a long way since 100 or even just 20 years ago. If Donald Trump wins it shows that the Americans are ok with voting for a man who seems to think that it is acceptable to speak about women however he wants because it's just "locker room talk". I have to admit, both Trump and Clinton have flaws, massive ones and this election has become between voting between two evils and it will come down to voting for the better of the worst but the last thing I would want this world to become is a world that doesn't make any progress.
I strongly believe that people should vote based on their political opinions but this election has gone far away from that. The 3 presidential debates have been a circus. It's been like watching people throwing pie at each other. Clinton trying to defend her email scandal and relating to every single person and Trump focusing more on Bill Clinton's scandals than his own values, if he even has any.
I'm not the one to tell you who to vote for but if anyone you knew said something like this:

“You know, it really doesn’t matter what the media write as long as you’ve got a young, and beautiful, piece of ass.”

or:

“The beauty of me is that I’m very rich.”

you would probably laugh it off but then think; gosh this person is such a twat (excuse my language). So do you really want that person to be the president of your country? If you do, I think I need to worry a lot more about this world than I thought I did.
This election will show whether people are going to sit back and accept a racist, sexist, self-centered ass to rule their country and if they do I guess it's time to reevaluate if we are actually taking steps forward or if we're simply going back to being apes.

The average but enjoyable Gatsby

I don't do film reviews, not because I don't like sharing my experience but because I usually don't have much to say about the films. However, after just finishing second year I feel more confident and I also actually have opinions about the Great Gatsby so I hereby introduce my first film review. I finished reading The Great Gatsby about 2 months ago and when I read it is was only for my own sake which meant that I probably didn't pay as much attention to the details as I would have done if it was for school as many people had too. However I think the film managed to stay quite accurate to the book. There were scenes in the film that probably could have been made shorter and some needed more explanations to make the audience understand what they actually contribute. I guess this is a problem with all film adaptations of books. It is impossible to get all the details in the book to fit into a film, especially when films nowadays very rarely are longer than 2 hours a...

Our lives exposed online

I am born in the generation where people don't know what lives were without colour TV, a computer in every home and internet. Some of us might remember when you couldn't be on the phone at the same time as you were online but to be honest, the only reason why I know about it is because my older siblings have told me about it. This has created a society for my generation where we communicate with people all around the world and often with people we don't even know. I know many of us like to think that we are friends with everyone on facebook but quite frankly, we don't. There are a lot of people we haven't talked to since primary school or people we just have on facebook because we enjoy stalking them. This creates a problem we often don't think about, what we put online is not just for us and our friends. It is for everyone we have on facebook and often other people. We also easily forget how the things we put online can be saved and spread by others and soon ...

Yom Hazikaron

As the clock struck 20.00 last night the whole world around me stopped. The thousands of people surrounding me went silent. A minute of silence so powerful that my body shivered. A whole country stopped to remember the fallen soldiers and civilians that we have lost to terror and war. A whole country being silent for the ones that cannot share their own story anymore but their absence speak louder than any noise anyone of us could make. I don't have my own story. I haven't lost a family member or a friend but I have lost 23,741 soldiers and 3,150 civilians to terror. Even though it wasn't my own brother each one of them left a family behind; a mother and father with an empty bed to say goodnight to, a little sister that will never have that protective older brother to defend her and an older brother that will never get a chance to give his brother advice on girl problems. Each one of the 26 891 victims has a story, a story that we have to pass on for those who cannot. A s...
