International women's day

Today is the International Women's day, a day when we are suppose to celebrate women and equality. Or fight for equality at least. So waking up today and checking my Facebook I noticed how everyone suddenly have become feminists. Don't get me wrong, it's a good thing that people are feminists and want equality but it confuses me how some people only seem to care once a year. Personally, I rarely call myself a feminist even though I believe in equality so this day doesn't make me feel the need to show the world that I support equality. Another issue I have with this day is that if we want equality, why isn't this the International Equality day? By making this the women's day we are deciding to separate ourselves from men and therefore preventing equality even more. As I've mentioned previously on my blog we need to stop believing we should have special treatment for the world to actually be able to become equal. International Women's day is very differ...

Why feminism needs to go

I'm a woman who believes in equal rights. No person should be judged based on sex, gender, race, nationality etc. According to many I could therefore be called a feminist and the definition of the term supports that. However, I often choose to be open about not being a feminist but an equalist for one simple reason; many women seem to think they should have some kind of privilege because the society isn't equal. The reason for why I believe feminism has gone too far is due to the fact that as a woman in today's society we are told that we are the victims. I very rarely see myself as a victim, not when it comes to the fact that I am a woman at least. It has become acceptable to say that you didn't get a job because you are a woman and call any man who ever shows an interest in you a creep just because he checked your body out. Let me tell you something, sometimes you don't get a job simply because you are not the best person for the job and not all men are creep...

Tattoos and being broken

Exactly a month ago this article was published online  5 Reasons Why Girls With Tattoos And Piercings Are Broken . As you might realise this article kicked off a massive debate where mostly women but also some men thinking that this is unacceptable. Well this is just totally unjustified.. what about all the guys in the world that have tattoos and piercings?... http://t.co/Msq6sJxbW8 — Yantra Digital (@Yantra_Digital) November 12, 2014 Most disgusting thing I've ever read http://t.co/UkI8hqEf4g — bills (@westsidez0uis) November 12, 2014 http://t.co/x1a8imXLYQ As a 20-year-old woman with 9 piercings: how dare you treat us like we're inhuman sex dolls? #cyberbullying — Adrienne LaVey (@LigeiaReborn) November 7, 2014 The reaction to this article didn't surprise me at all for the fact that the article is written for men and therefore written in a more vulgar way than the fluffy cloud articles that girls read in women's magazines. One part of me is slight...

Hypocritical Me

We live in a world where we are constantly told what to think, say and do. Social media feeds us opinions that creates a world where we don't have to make up our minds or even be able to explain why we have our certain opinions. I can't seem to go one single day without seeing a post on Facebook or Twitter about moral issues such as vegetarianism, religion, feminism, peace in the middle east or gay rights. It's turned into a machine that thinks for me and tries to push these ideologies on to me without me even realising that what I'm doing is being a sheep, following the herd. This has created a problem, we all have opinions about everything but they are not our own opinions. As a woman who believe in equal rights but isn't one of those women that keep a poster of Rosie the Riveter in my room, I often get the need to say that I am not a feminist. But then again, I believe in equal rights which pretty much makes me a feminist so why don't I speak up? Why don...
